Name/TitleEgyptian black-topped red ware vessel
About this objectBelieved to be a predynastic vessel, likely used in a domestic or funerary context. The vessel is a red glazed jar with a wide mouth and small rolled rim. The sides taper inwards to form a small circular flat base. Black glaze has been added to the rim and top quarter of the vessel. The band of red glaze just below the black is slightly lighter in colour than the remainder of the pot. The interior of the vessel is unglazed. There is an inscription on the base of the vessel which is likely an archaeological field mark.
