Careers in Heritage is an annual event which introduces students, teachers and parents to some of the many and varied careers in arts and heritage. Guest speakers from across the sector discuss their jobs and talk about the skills or qualifications needed for their roles.
Careers in Heritage is a collaboration between the University of Canterbury Teece Museum and the Christchurch City Council Heritage Team and the Christchurch City Libraries, with the assistance of the Christchurch Archaeology Project, Selwyn Libraries, and the Department of Conservation. Guest speakers from local museums, archives, libraries, and heritage organisations generously donate their time towards the event.
Since 2021, the Careers in Heritage event has captured a video each guest speaker, ensuring the event creates a lasting digital archive which is accessible and inclusive, able to be used by akonga both regionally and nationally. Videos are available to view on the UC Careers YouTube channel and on the Teece Museum YouTube Channel. Presentations include:
