Name/TitleEgyptian wavy-handled ware vessel
About this objectThis unglazed ceramic vessel has a cylindrical shape, tapering inwards towards the flat circular base. It has a round flared rim at the mouth. Some fragments have separated from the vessel. The surface may have been burnished, but the vessel is the reserved colour of the clay.
This vase has a wavy relief pattern near the top which encircles the whole vessel in a band. This type of ware is sometimes referred to as wavy-handled ware.
This artefact is similar to other predynastic vessels, and was likely used in a domestic or funerary context.
