Name/TitleEgyptian red ware amphora
About this objectThis polished redware vessel has a conical belly with a funnel shaped neck, a small mouth and rolled rim. The body tapers inwards to a small flat circular base. The surface has a bit of sparkle in certain light conditions, which could be due to small chips of a mineral such as mica included in the coarse clay.
Vessels of this type are characteristic of the pre-dynastic period in Egypt.
