About this objectA cast replica of a terracotta figurine of a seated woman holding a child. The original figurine was found in Anthidona (Anthedon) in Boeotia in Greece and dates to the 5th century BC.
Figurines such as these probably served a votive purpose, perhaps as a request for a safe childbirth or recovery from illness.
The original figurine is in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, Greece.
