About this objectCast copy of an original bronze statuette of a horse from a four-horse chariot. Parts of the harness are visible on the head and the body. The cast has been mounted on a wood plinth for display purposes.
The original was found on the south stoa of Olympia and is dated to ca. 470-460 BC. The original is in the Olympia Museum inv. No B 1000. Given the find-spot for this artefact in the ancient sanctuary of Olympia, it is likely that the bronze was originally a votive offering.
