About this objectSmall red ceramic bowl with blackened surface. The bowl has a circular foot and vertical sides.
Said to have been found on a dump site at Petra, Jordan. The bowl has been identified as being from the Nabataean culture.
The small size of the bowl indicates it may have been used as a votive offering. Votive offerings were dedicated to a god or gods, in fulfilment of a vow or in gratitude for divine aid.
