Name/TitleClothing Pin
About this objectThis bronze toggle or pin features an hole near the midpoint. It is known as an eyelet type pin. It would have likely been used to pin together the fabric of a garment such as a peplos or chiton.
Although this pin has been bent, possibly deliberately, it originally would have been a straight pin. Straight pins, known in ancient Greece as peronai, were commonly used by Greek men and women to hold their clothing in place at the shoulder.
