Name/TitleEgyptian red ware vessel
About this objectThis bottle or jar is an example of Egyptian red ware ceramics. It is glazed a light reddish brown. The blackened surface could be decorative, or it may be due to damage.
The vessel has a bulbous body with a rounded bottom, and is pinched in at the shoulders. This leads to a high neck which flares slightly to a rounded lip. The rim is chipped and broken.
This artefact is similar to other predynastic vessels, and was likely used in a domestic or funerary context.
