Name/TitleEgyptian red ware jar
About this objectThis polished red ware jar has an elliptical shape. A small raised neck flares to a circular mouth with a rounded rim. The body tapers inwards towards the rounded bottom of the vessel. The lack of a flat base on the vessel suggests it would have required a stand, or have had to be supported in some way to remain upright.
Vessels of this type are characteristic of the pre-dynastic period in Egypt.
