Everyday objects can be works of art in their own right!
The ancient Greeks and Romans decorated the everyday objects they made with patterns inspired by nature, with exotic shapes and designs they saw on artefacts from other lands, and most memorably with images of the myths and legends of their gods and heroes.
Famous artists throughout history have been inspired by ancient artefacts like those in the Teece Museum, and have used that inspiration to create beautiful works of art themselves.
Now it’s your turn to give it a try! Will you write a poem or draw a picture? Are you inspired to build a sculpture or compose a song? Use any type of art and any kind of material you like, and get creative.
What to do:
- Login to the CU portal and download the activity sheet
- Browse the highlights of the online catalogue of the Teece Museum of Classical Antiquities and find an object that inspires you.
